Install additional tool shanks or create them yourself
The typical tool shanks for rotation-symmetrical VHM tools such as DIN 6535 are already available for the TD Sketcher "out-of-the-box". The shanks with screw-in threads or Morse tapers for drills according to DIN 345 are also supported by the TD Sketcher. Individual or more unusual shank dimensions and geometries can, however, be created and managed using the contour editor itself. We have already generated some standards for our customers such as hollow taper shanks according to DIN 69893 also taper shanks according to DIN 69781 or DIN 2080 and provide them for download.
The additional standard shanks provided can be downloaded from the ISBE website. After unpacking the ZIP file, run Setup.exe and follow the instructions of the installation process. Afterwards the geometries can be used in the TD Sketcher.
New shank geometries can be created using the "free contour" type selection. The contour is described in the same way as the outer contour of the tool cutting edge. When the new shank geometry is complete, save the new element using the floppy disc symbol and select a unique name.
The "i" icon activates the rotational symmetry mode. This mode allows easy creation of symmetrical shafts. When this mode is deactivated, the opposite side is displayed cylindrically. The cylinder diameter depends on the largest diameter of the contour side.
